I’m looking forward to absorbing new knowledge like a sponge, from the extraordinarily bright crew over there, as well as getting my ping pong game back into shape- actual table shown below, in non-actual size.

The only reason I can imagine that this isn’t the biggest security uproar in recent memory is that the Opera Mini market share isn’t big enough to have caught anyone’s attention yet.

Did you get that, world? If you use Opera Mini, they are decrypting your traffic in their own, private network, “adding value” to it by reformatting, then forwarding it on to you. It’s a purpose-built man-in-the-middle attack, for fuck’s sake.

Let's get sorta unique

Behold, I have released a new gem. Meet SUID- the sorta unique ID.

Reset with the best of them

One of my favorite designers, Chris Boone, has released his own, hand-tuned cross-browser reset stylesheets to the world.
If society doesn’t spontaneously combust within the next 24 hours, I’ll take it that the “defense of marriage” crowd was just wrong, and get on with my life.

Somehow, I'm incredulous...

Parsley:~/work/people_places_things(master)$ rake specs

What a pleasant surprise! The fried chicken was just that- a piece of chicken, battered, and fried. No frou-frou dusting of single-origin free range asparagus zest. No attempt to “better it up”.

Just great, delicate flour-and-buttermilk dipped chicken. Best I’ve had in ages, outside of my momma’s or a relative’s kitchen, that’s for sure. And the grape soda added an extra touch of nostalgia that made the whole thing very satisfying.

These days I find myself more drawn to foods outside my ancestral comfort zone, but, when the mood strikes, I’ll definitely check out farmer brown again.

Tried the new Sightglass coffee cart today (7th btwn. Folsom and Howard). Same cart as used to be at Four Barrel’s back door on Caledonia last year. In fact Justin, who pulled shots on Caledonia, is working the cart at Sightglass. They are using beans sourced from Verve in Capitola.

Quality is high, although the beans seemed just slightly over-roasted for my taste (but not offensively so).

Biggest drawback in my mind is that the place is too clean- they completely miss out on the hipster sleaze factor that made Four Barrel on Caledonia so charming.

Although I do admit I saw a man taking a crap on the sidewalk only half a block a way, so, they are trying, at least.

Worth a return trip, definitely.

New beginnings

With the death of Lingr and Rejaw, I was forced to relocate my blog, because it was hosted on one of Lingr’s servers. So here I am again, world- lost as ever.
