Lingr chatroom embedded in a web page! 0

Posted by dburkes Saturday, February 10, 2007 10:47:00

The response of the developer community to our new Lingr API has been amazing. Practically every day, I'm astounded by the innovative and totally unexpected ways that people use it.

One thing that I did expect, however, was that someone would write a Javascript client to the API, and, behold, this guy has done it.

This means that you can, for example, create a chatroom for your blog users and embed that chatroom directly into your blog! Also, because it uses the Lingr backend, the chat is live between the embedded mini-chatroom and the corresponding room on lingr.com. So you can embed the chatroom right in context, but take advantage of Lingr's ability to draw visitors.

For those of you who don't read Japanese, the meat of the matter is here.

Lingr now supports MicroID 4

Posted by dburkes Wednesday, November 22, 2006 12:01:00

Later today, we'll be rolling out an update to Lingr that includes, among other things, support for MicroID. MicroID is a way to claim ownership of your assets on the web- in particular, with Lingr, every chatroom now includes a MicroID meta tag that declares the room to belong to the email address of the Lingr user who created it.

Lingr's use of MicroID continues our push to support emerging metadata standards, as in our existing support for the rel-nofollow and rel-tag microformats.
